Meet Our Staff

Dr. Barbara Korry, DVM
Dr. Korry graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1981 and received her DVM degree from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1985. She has served the Rhode Island Veterinary Medical Association in various capacities and was most recently the Director of Continuing Education. Dr. Korry had loved animals and the outdoors since she can remember. She loves the challenge of solving medical mysteries and the opportunity for lifelong learning this profession requires. While she loves all animals, if she is totally honest, Labradors hold a special place in her heart, along with any cat who shares her last cat’s motivation to “forage” for food in the kitchen cupboards. Her interest in animal behavior began when she started working with horses and was solidified with the adoption of a very anxious and very challenging rescue pup. Emergency work early on in her career gave her the opportunity to treat a wide variety of ailments. Today she finds great satisfaction in seeing her patients grow from puppy life to maturity and seeing the bond their families have with them. Enhancing that bond through maintaining health is her passion.

Dr. Beth Labriola, DVM
Dr. Beth Labriola joined the team in 2018. Dr. Labriola graduated from the University at Buffalo and received her DVM degree from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. Dr. Labriola's professional interests include feline medicine, soft tissue surgery and ultrasound imaging. At home, she enjoys playing violin, and getting creative with painting, knitting, baking, and cake decorating. She shares her home with her family and Angus, an sturdy Scottish Terrier, Cleopatra, a shy and demure tortoiseshell cat, Nero, a sleek house panther, and Oliver, a handsome and dignified elderly grey longhaired cat.

She has a particular affinity for geriatric kitties and is the proud caregiver to a feisty handicapped kitty, Emma, who stole her heart and provides motivation to give the best care to patients in need. Elizabeth has a bachelors degree in animal science from the University of Rhode Island. She enjoys traveling, yoga, and spending time with family.

Shana, Veterinary Nurse
Shana has been a part of our team since 2012. She was inspired to work in the veterinary field by her love of animals and desire for hands on learning. She feels strongly about low stress handling and enjoys helping our anxious patients feel more comfortable. She and her husband live on a farm and care for a wide variety of adopted and rescued animals. Their menagerie includes a pitbull type dog, cats, chickens, turkeys, goats, and sheep; the animals are there to simply live out the rest of their lives in peace. Shana is also a classically trained singer with a BA in music from Wheaton College. She loves singing as well as painting. She is also a certified dog trainer, teaching classes at Pooch Pawsitive in East Providence, and has a health and wellness business. She truly enjoys helping people and animals feel their best, bringing a warm smile and kind heart to all.

Destinee, Veterinary Nurse

Destinee DelBonis is our newest staff member! She is a Junior at the University of Rhode Island, majoring in Animal Science on a Pre-Veterinary track. Destinee has always had an innate desire to work with animals; she used to give her great-grandmother’s dog “check-ups” as a toddler! Her favorite animals to work with are dogs and horses as she is an avid equestrian. Destinee’s favorite part of her job at Cowesett Animal Hospital is establishing relationships with the “paw-rents”. She feels it is very rewarding when she sends a happy and healthy patient home to a grateful family. After graduating early from URI, Destinee hopes to earn her DVM at Tuft’s University and have her own practice. Outside of working, Destinee is a published author, an Honor’s student, and an involved advocate for survivors of domestic violence. She also spends most nights cuddling with her Sharpei-mini, Lucky. A fun fact about Destinee is that she has a twin brother! He studies Pharmacy at the University of Rhode Island and they are best friends.
